I used Google (http://www.google.com/) to find these reviews. It was about 10 seconds of effort in the end.

In my opinion it needs some new firmware to fix the AirDisk and connectivity.

You're probably not going to reply within 5 minutes either.

I had a standard 802.11g wifi box that *just* reached through the equivalent of 3 rooms to the back of the house in the conservatory, the signal strength was about 25% and very choppy.
Now with my extreme it gets in the same place at about 60% signal. I did find that keeping the extreme on 2.4ghz to give me better stability and distance than the 5ghz range.

you can change the ghz?You have the option of 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz for 802.11n operations.

Yes this is the frequency transmission range and nothing to do with the actual speed.

how do i change it?

couse on internet they say using 2,4 gives more range

but my G5 would probably not be able to connect anymore

802.11g would still be limited to 2.4 GHz only.

Though you can change anywhere from 1-11 where 6 is the standard 2.4 GHz settings. I'd recommend 11 or 1. Probably 11. Depending on your router you do this through the router setup page.

No one ever seems to change their channel from 1 or 11. You sure you want to add another device on those channels?

Everyones channel selection may be different as it will vary from location to location.
Other factors that share or interfere with the 2.4ghz bandwidth like DECT phones, Microwaves, video senders and even other peoples wireless etc will depict what other channels may be better in your area.

your best bet would be to get a program that scans as to what channels are been used (for wireless networks) and then manually try the remaining ones.

What do you mean? A majority of people have the default of 6 because they don't know how to use security or anything let alone change the wireless channel. Plus, a 3, 4, or 5 as you say will have interference from both channel 6 and people with channel 1. The three non-overlapping channels are 1, 6, or 11. I think the moral of the story is to do whatever works best without interference.

I just set mine up and so far I've been unable to get my windows laptop (work issued) to connect. I may be putting it away and getting the linksys back out. :(

As an AEBS owner, I heartily second this recommendation. Needs new firmware.

Around here the majority are on channel 1 or 11. My Buffalo router is set to automatic and it has picked 5 right now.
