no ssh newB

Hi i just got a jailbroken I phone. whenever i connect it to a mac computer nothing happend except for the itunes and iphoto update. what is the ssh for?also when i try to open ssh from my phone nothing happend it juts open up into a white screen and then close again. please help

I think that you need to do a little more searching on this site and/or google.
