moving something to the dock....*poof* ???

I tried moving the "applications" folder to the dock for easier access.. and when I did, it disappeared, and went "poof* with a little cloud that actually went *poof* ! 😱

What was that all about??? How do I get it back?😕
 
I think you moved the sidebar alias.

open your boot drive in the finder, drag the applications folder to the dock, and then open the applications folder and from the "file" drop down in the menu bar select "add to sidebar", it will come back.
 
Did you drag the sidebar Applications folder to the dock? I believe that would make the sidebar Applications dissapear.

Drag the actual Applications folder to the dock and also back to the Finder sidebar.
