hey i have some movie rips with .avi extension and divx or xvid codec and i need to burn them, dvd studio pro cant handle them and i get errors...

Another VisualHub user here. Money well spent.
Failing that, try the free alternative ffmpegx. Not as fast or as tidy as VisualHub, but free which is always a bonus.
Mux your AVI to a Video_TS folder, then use the Open Source program Burn to burn to a DVD (unless of course you have Toast, then use that).
