Contacts in Address Book

So in address book, you have the "cards" and then you have groups and all that good stuff. Is there an easy way to see what groups a card is a part of, without going through the groups and looking? Also, what is this directorys group for?

if you have a contact selected you can press the option key to see the groups they are in highlighted.

Now if anyone could explain the directories that would be swell.
 
Directories are used by organizations to have centralized contact information for employees, students, staff, etc. They are generally administered with LDAP or some other protocol.
