Not of any kind, just your favorite lyrics.

If you write any line like, "you've got me so hypnotized when your body rolls round and round" I will stab you in the jaw.

Here::::

"'All you need is love', is a lie,
'Cause we had love but we still said goodbye.
Now we're tired, battered fighters.
And it stings when it's nobody's fault,
'Cause there's nothing to blame at the drop of your name
It's only the air you took and the breath you left.

And I called because I just need to feel you on the line
Don't hang up this time.
I know it was me who called it over, but
I still wish you fought me 'til your dying day
Don't let me get away
I can't wait to figure out what's wrong with me,
so I can say this is the way that I used to be
There's no substitute for time.

These lyrics make me sad and just so moved. They're from the song Split Screen Sadness (http://youtube.com/watch?v=cPQa5IjGOgQ) by John Mayer. It's a beautiful song.

I don't know if I'd call them my favorite lyrics, but they reached me the most when I listened to them so many years ago in my angst-ridden, dark late teens. Oddly enough, they're more relevant in mid-life...

The killer lives inside me: yes, I can feel him move.
Sometimes he's lightly sleeping in the quiet of his room,
but then his eyes will rise and stare through mine;
he'll speak my words and slice my mind inside.
Yes the killer lives.

Angels live inside me: I can feel them smile...
Their presence strokes and soothes the tempest in my mind
and their love can heal the wounds that I have wrought.
They watch me as I go to fall - well, I know I shall be caught,
while the angels live.

How can I be free?
How can I get help?
Am I really me?
Am I someone else?

But stalking in my cloisters hang the acolytes of gloom
and Death's Head throws his cloak into the corner of my room
and I am doomed...
But laughing in my courtyard play the pranksters of my youth
and solemn, waiting Old Man in the gables of the roof:
he tells me truth...

And I too, live inside me and very often don't know who I am:
I know I'm not a hero, well, I hope that I'm not damned.

I'm just a man, and killers, angels, all are these:
Dictators, saviours, refugees in war and peace
as long as Man lives...
I'm just a man, and killers, angels, all are these:
Dictators, saviours, refugees...

Most Motion City Soundtrack lyrics, but in particular:

"I am wrecked
I am overblown
I'm also fed up with
the common cold

But I just hate to say goodbye
to all the metaphors and lies
that have taken me yearsTo come up with..."

Attractive Today, Motion City Soundtrack

"... But all I can do
is close my eyes
and cross my arms
and hope to die

Cause you don't f--king listen
when I'm around

The least you can do
is take it back
all the vicious remarks
and verbal attacks

Cause I can't f--king stand it
when you're around..."

When "You're" Around - Motion City Soundtrack

"... Cause I'm

wasted
Face Down on the floorcan't take anymore
gave it all away

Oh, Ai me
I've got violent eyes
help me realize i'm in love
I'm in love I'm in love..."

"I never felt magic crazy as this. / I never saw moons, knew the meaning of the sea. / I never held emotion in the palm of my hand. / Or felt sweet breezes in the top of a tree. / But now you're here / Brighten my northern sky."

And I wonder
When I sing along with you
If everything could ever feel this real forever
If anything could ever be this good again

The only thing I'll ever ask of you
You've got to promise not to stop when I say when
She sang

Breathe out
So I could breathe you in
Hold you in

This is the song from the movie Garden State.

drink up, baby down
mmm, are you in or are you out
leave your things behind
'cause it's all going off without you
excuse me, too busy you're writing your tragedy
these mishaps
you bubble wrap
when you've no idea what you're like

so let go, let go, jump in
oh well, whatcha waiting for
it's alright
'cause there's beauty in the breakdown
so let go, just get in
oh, it's so amazing here
it's alright
'cause there's beauty in the breakdown

I have more!

Snow Patrol - beginning to get to me

"It's beginning to get to me,
that I know more of the stars and sea
Than I do of what's in your head.
Barely touching in our cold bed
Are you beginning to get my point?
That all this fighting with aching joints
is doing nothing but tiring us out
and no one knows what this fight's about"

If everyone's a casualty
Then take your time, there ain't no trouble
If the weather's fine and we're feeling crazy
There's always drinks and dancing in the rubble
I'm spinning, you're spinning
The world's spinning, and we're laughing
And I'm charming, the devil's charming
And we're ruined, but we're building
And I'm selling, and you're counting
The world's stopping, but we keep going
And we're ruthless, and we're cunning
And I'm heir to it all.
This key is to your kingdom
This key is to your heart
Neither one a doorway
But both of them a part
So one foot in front of the other

Long, but the song clocks in at 14 minutes....

The Poet and The Pendulum by Nightwish

The end

The songwriter’s dead
The blade fell upon him
Taking him to the white lands
Of Empathica,
Of Innocence
Empathica
Innocence

The dreamer and the wine
Poet without a rhyme
A widowed writer, torn apart by chains of Hell

One last perfect verse
Yet still the same old song
Oh Christ, how I hate what I have become
Take me home

Get away, run away, fly away
Lead me astray, to dreamer’s hideaway
I cannot cry ’cause the shoulder cries more
I cannot die, I, the whore for the cold world
Forgive me, I have but two faces
One for the world,
One for God save me
I cannot cry ’cause the shoulder cries more
I cannot die, I, a whore for the cold world

My home was there and then
These meadows of heaven
Adventure-filled days
One with every smiling face

Please, no more words
Thoughts from a severed head
No more praise
Tell me once my heart goes right
Take me home

Get away, run away, fly away
Lead me astray, to dreamer’s hideaway
I cannot cry ’cause the shoulder cries more
I cannot die, I, the whore for the cold world
Forgive me, I have but two faces
One for the world,
One for God save me
I cannot cry ’cause the shoulder cries more
I cannot die, I, a whore for the cold world
Whore for the cold world
Whore for the cold world

Sparkle my scenery
With turquoise waterfall
With beauty underneath
The Ever Free

Tuck me in
Beneath the blue
Beneath the pain
Beneath the rain
Goodnight kiss for a child in time
Swaying blade my lullaby

On the shore we sat and hoped
Under the same pale moon
Whose guiding light chose you
Chose you all

I’m afraid, so afraid, of being raped
Again and again and again
I know I will die alone, but loved
You live long enough to hear the sound of guns
Long enough to find yourself screaming every night
And if you want
Live long enough to see your friends betray you
Years have I been strapped unto this altar
Now I only have three minutes and counting
I just wish the tide would catch me first
And give me a death
I always longed for

Second robber to the right of Christ
Cut in half - infanticide
The world will rejoice today
As the crows feast on the rotting poet

Everyone must bury their own
No pack to bury the heart of stone
Now he's home in Hell, serves him well
Slain by the bell, tolling for his farewell

The morning dawned upon this altar
Remains of the dark passion play
Performed by his friends without shame
Spitting on his grave as they came

Get away, run away, fly away
Lead me astray, to dreamer’s hideaway
I cannot cry ’cause the shoulder cries more
I cannot die, I, the whore for the cold world
Forgive me, I have but two faces
One for the world,
One for God save me
I cannot cry ’cause the shoulder cries more
I cannot die, I, a whore for the cold world
A whore for the cold world
A whore for the cold world

Today, in the year of our Lord, 2005
Tuomas was called from the cares of the world
He stopped crying at the end of each beautiful day
The music he wrote had too long been without silence
He was found naked and dead
With a smile in his face, a pen and 1000 pages of erased text

Save me!

Be still, my son
You're home
Oh when did you become so cold?
The blade will keep on descending
All you need is to feel my love

Search for beauty, find your shore
Try to save them all, bleed no more
You have such ocean's within
In the end
I will always love you

The beginning

Possibly the best lyrics I've ever heard, IMO.
---
Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace
---
Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world

Make
Me feel serenity
When all is revealed
So easy to look back in life
And question but I must
Seek the strength
To push forward (forward)
Forward

Want to see what's so
Beautiful inside
As we drink of life
Absolve me through your suffering

Make
Me feel serenity
When all is revealed
So easy to look back in life
And question but I must
Seek the strength
To push forward (forward)
Forward

You teach me
To inscribe these words
Upon my heart
You cover me
With the shadow
Of your hand

I
Will not loose myself
In everything that tears us down
Because you stand by me
There's no one to blame
No one to blame for my transgressions

You teach me
To inscribe these words
Upon my heart
You cover me
With the shadow
Of your hand

I
Will not loose myself
In everything
That tears me down
Because you stand, stand by me

Want to see what's so
Beautiful inside
As we
Drink of life
Absolve me through your suffering

I
Will not loose myself
In everything that tears us down
Because you stand by me
There's no one to blame
No one to blame
-- "Temple from the Within" Killswitch Engage

I actually listened to the song and posted the lyrics as they are sung (screamed, whatever). It's not my favorite song in the world but all my favorite songs are instrumental, this isn't even my favorite band but I can't help liking these lyrics. The 'you' and 'your' should probably be capitalized but when I looked them up on the interweb they weren't and I'm not going to interpret the writer's meaning. I do know what it means to me though.

I hope you all enjoy.

All of these were by the emcee tonedeff..

A couple of bars from his second verse on the track Loyal.

What’s your name again? I know, I knew it 2 seconds ago/
But, I don’t recognize this 2nd face, though with the 1st it’s identical/
You were the type that I put on a pedestal. Your acts were commendable/
But the bond of friendship isn’t impenetrable/

the first 2 alone are just amazing.

and here are some clips off his verse off of Love Ain't with CunninLynguists

You best fix whatever’s wrong and just move on and get on with it/
Cause, You’ll catch bigger fish in the sea if you manage not to drown in it/
It’s sad, but proud or not, most your standards go down a notch/
When loneliness drinks at the bar you set too high,
_____________________________________________________
And I can’t die without trying. My hands tied in knots/
Knowing that I’ll never learn to brave the waves if I stand by the docks/

gotta love rap music..

Matthew Good - Avalanche

Yes.

When they finally come to destroy the earth they’ll have to go through you first, and I bet they wont be expecting that
When they finally come to destroy the earth they’ll have to deal with you first
And my money says they won’t know about the 1000-Fahrenheit hot metal lights behind your eyes

Invincible oh oh oh

That crushing crashing atom smashing white hot things it's invincible

When they finally come what will you do to them? Gonna decimate like you did to me? Will you leave them stunned and stuttering

When they finally come out will you handle them, will you devastate them deliberately
Cause im gonna guess they wont be prepared for the 1000 Fahrenheit hot metal lights behind your eyes.

Invincible oh oh oh
So please use your powers for good. Please use your powers for good.

Invincible oh oh oh

Radiohead's Optimistic
Flies are buzzing around my head
Vultures circling the dead
Picking up every last crumb
The big fish eat the little ones
The big fish eat the little ones
Not my problem give me some

You can try the best you can
If you try the best you can
The best you can is good enough

This one's optimistic
This one went to market
This one just came out of the swamp
This one dropped a payload
Fodder for the animals
Living on an animal farm

If you try the best you can
If you try the best you can
The best you can is good enough

I'd really like to help you man
I'd really like to help you man.....
Nervous messed up marionette
Floating around on a prison ship

If you try the best you can
If you try the best you can
The best you can is good enough
If you try the best you can
If you try the best you can

"I've heard it said
That people come into our lives for a reason
Bringing something we must learn
And we are led
To those who help us most to grow
If we let them
And we help them in return
Well, I don't know if I believe that's true
But I know I'm who I am today
Because I knew you"

a couple tim armstrong lyrics...

into action
if your life's too slow, no satisfaction
find something out there, there's an attraction
if you hesitate now, that's a subtraction
so let's get moving girl into action

wake up
just like the last one, just like the first one

and some slackers (the first line is engraved on the back of my ipod video)

watch this
now a bee in a birds nest never made no honey
and a bird in a hive sang no song
god makes the man
man makes the money
so who am i, and who am i to judge

no more crying
is there no motion
inside your ocean
there is no reason
to cause a storm in your peaceful harbor now

I was very taken by the music and lyrics of the song played while the credits rolled for "A Mighty Heart," the film about the murder in Pakistan of Wall Street Journal writer Danny Pearl. The movie was based on a memoir by Danny's widow, Mariane Pearl. The song was performed by Nouvelle Vague, and is titled "Manner of Speaking."

(btw I thought Angelina Jolie was totally on the mark in how she said the lines "You WATCHED that?? i NEVER want to see that!" in response to one of the guys saying how they knew Danny was dead was because... there was a videotape, and that... he had been beheaded.)

I thought the simple lyrics of the song spoke to some complex issues of silence and speech among people who love each other.

how silence can be companionable or stony, and how the sense of that special silence can transcend the separation imposed by death

how terrible -- and telling-- is the silence in that moment before you are informed that someone you love has been ripped out of your life and off the planet;

how hard it is to have to inform a spouse, partner or child of a violent death.

These are the lyrics:

in a manner of speaking
I just want to say
that I could never forget the way
you told me everything by saying nothing

in a manner of speaking
I don't understand
how love in silence
becomes reprimand
the way that I feel about you
is beyond words

oh, give me the words
give me the words that tell me nothing
oh, give me the words
give me the words that tell me everything

in a manner of speaking
semantics won't do
in this life that we live
--live? we only make do--
the way that we feel
might have to be sacrificed

so in a mannner of speaking
i just want to say that --just like you--
i should find a way to tell you everything
by saying nothing

oh give me the words
give me the words that tell me nothing
oh give me the words
give me the words that tell me everything.

oh, give me the words
give me the words that tell me nothing.
oh, give me the words
give me the words that tell me everything.

Not gonna post whole songs, but some of my favorite lines include

"Who are you this time? Are you one of us flying blind? Because I'm down here throwing stones, while you're so far from home"

"If There is a God" by Smashing Pumpkins from Machina II (CR-04)

I'll stop there, because nearly every song of theirs has lyrical genius in there somewhere.

I Can See Clearly Now ~ Jimmy Cliff

I can see clearly now the rain is gone.
I can see all obstacles in my way.
Gone are the dark clouds that had me blind.
It's gonna be a bright (bright)
bright (bright) sunshiny day.
It's gonna be a bright (bright)
bright (bright) sunshiny day.

Oh yes, I can make it now the pain is gone.
All of the bad feelings have disappeared.
Here is the rainbow I've been praying for.
It's gonna be a bright (bright)
bright (bright) sunshiny day.

(ooh...) Look all around, there's nothing but blue skies.
Look straight ahead, there's nothing but blue skies.

I can see clearly now the rain is gone.
I can see all obstacles in my way.
Here's the rainbow I've been praying for.
It's gonna be a bright (bright)
bright (bright) sunshiny day.
It's gonna be a bright (bright)
bright (bright) sunshiny day.
Real, real, real, real bright (bright) bright (bright)
sunshiny day.
Yeah, hey, it's gonna be a bright (bright) bright (bright)
sunshiny day.

Bob Dylan - The Times They Are A-Changin'

Come gather round people wherever you roam
And admit that the waters around you have grown
And accept it that soon you'll be drenched to the bone
If your time to you is worth saving
Then you'd better start swimming or you'll sink like a stone
For the times, they are a changing

Come writers and critics who prophesize with your pens
And keep your eyes open, the chance won't come again
And don't speak too soon, the wheel's still in spin
And there's no telling who that it's naming
Oh the loser will be later to win
For the times, they are a changing

Come senators, congressmen, please head the call
Don't stand in the doorway, don't block up the hall
For he that gets hurt will be her that has stalled

The battle outside raging will soon shake your windows
And rattle your walls
For the times, they are a changing

Come mothers and fathers all over this land
And don't criticize what you can't understand
Your sons and your daughter are beyond your command
Your old role is rapidly aging
Please get out of the new one if you can't lend a hand
For the times they are a changing

The line, it is drawn, the curse, it is cast
The slow one will later be fast
And the present now will soon be the past
The order is rapidly fading
The first one now will later be last
For the times, they are a changing

Led Zeppelin: The Rain Song

This is the springtime of my loving - the second season I am to know
You are the sunlight in my growing - so little warmth I've felt before.
It isn't hard to feel me glowing - I watched the fire that grew so low.

It is the summer of my smiles - flee from me Keepers of the Gloom.
Speak to me only with your eyes. It is to you I give this tune.
Ain't so hard to recognize - These things are clear to all from
time to time.

Talk Talk - I've felt the coldness of my winter
I never thought it would ever go. I cursed the gloom that set upon us...
But I know that I love you so

These are the seasons of emotion and like the winds they rise and fall
This is the wonder of devotion - I see the torch we all must hold.
This is the mystery of the quotient - Upon us all a little rain must fall.

Led Zeppelin: In The Evening

In the evening, When the day is done
I'm looking for a woman, but the girl don't come
So don't let her, Play you for a fool
She don't show no pity baby, she don't make no rules

So don't you let her, Oh, get under your skin
It's only bad luck and trouble, From the day that you begin
I hear you crying in the darkness, Don't ask nobody's help
Ain't no pockets full of mercy baby, Cause you can only blame yourself
