Hi there,

I've just run a quick search of the posts in here and haven't found anything listed, so I was hoping someone could make a recommendation of a (preferably free!) text editor that could be used mainly for writing PHP.

Thanks alot,

I used to use TextWrangler (with first Cyberduck and later Transmit ftp clients) for most things, but last year I tried and switched to Coda (got a rebate as a Transmit user).

Still have TextWrangler around as my all-purpose text editor and use it on a daily basis. Not yet seen the need for upgrading to BBEdit, TextWrangler's pro "big brother" (just waiting for a rebate to take the price under $100, though).

That and more should be in the thread mentioned by jng or one of the more general purpose recommendation threads.
