What version of OS X are you trying to install? Is it from a retail disc or a recovery disc?

What kind of Mac are you trying to install on?

What kind of discs are you using? Did the come with the Mac that you're trying to install OS X on?

It looks like you're using the installer discs of another Mac. Their designed to only work on its originating model.

Did the install CD you're using come with your mac? (Which model is the mac?)

Any Installation Discs that come with Apple computers will only work with that exact model computer (i.e. you can't use a Powerbook installation disc on a Macbook pro, and visa versa).

I just don't want to spend 250$ on Tiger when Im not even sure if this laptop is worth it...

The good news is that the computer's ability to display that error tells you the logic-board is good. Even better news: you can buy the latest version of OS X (Leopard) for only $129. You can get Tiger for even less in some local computer shops and on eBay.

You look like a candidate for Tiger on a PowerBook 3,3. You can probably get it for $30-50 at worst.

I was told at the apple store I can't run OS X (Leopard) with my laptop. It's the 500mhz one..... and apparently you need 800mhz or higher...

I have retail versions of 10.2, 10.3, 10.4 and 10.5 here from all the mac's I've owned and it's worth building a library of software since you never know what you're buying next.
