Ah, and even the iHome 'elevator' shot is an myth - it wasn't in an elevator. Or at least, no elevator I've ever seen (i.e. one with carpets, standard office wall panels and a power duct round the side...) :)

lmao.. reading this post really made me laugh - loads of people pointing out how obvious the box wasn't there when it is the shoddiness of the image that is in fact the joke; poking fun at fake spy photos.

Just one look at the image should tell you that this is definitely a joke even if you don't realize the elevator connotations!

If it's really related to a portable computer I'd expect Apple to call it "AirBook".

However, remember that Steve replaced the iBook with the MacBook, the PowerBook with the MacBook Pro and the PowerMac with the Mac Pro. He said that Macs should have "Mac" in their names, so AirBook should be right out.

I'd like that a lot more than MacBook Air. Of course, I was one of the people woefully gritting my teeth when Steve Jobs announced the MacBook Pro. "... let's just hope it works better than it sounds."

Neither does "MacBook", but that didn't seem to stop them from using it to replace our beloved "Power" moniker. Even the French would be offended at that linguistic train wreck.

Incidentally, I love how it' supposed to be the thinnest laptop in the history of the universe, and yet the box is the size of a 2nd Gen iMac. No wonder no one else could fit in the elevator :p

I think the "Airbook" suggestion that would sound right based on the banners, but if that were the way apple did things the iPod shuffle would be the iPod "random" based on the banners at that years show.

If we look at the naming pattern apple is using now, the name should be something like Macbook Nano. the renaming of the mac mini seems to confirm this.

Could it be called the Airbook? yeah, it sounds a lot more poetic, but I feel that Steve jobs is too much a logical system nut to step away from that (remember iBook, Powerbook, iMac, Powermac). We haven't seen that sort of consistency since the beginning of the intel transition.

Awesome. I'd like to see the Tardis disguised as an elevator, but that stupid chameleon circuit never works. :p

As a side note, I just watched Harry Potter 4 again and one of the main bad guys (Barty Crouch Jr.) is played by David Tenant. Even funnier, there was a Doctor Who "connection" in that movie. The Weasleys had a tent that was bigger on the inside than it was on the outside. Harry said it was magic, but I KNOW it was really the Doctor pretending to be Barty, and the tent was the Tardis. I know a conspiracy when I smell one! :D

Well if there's 16g of Oxygen in 24cm^3, then with the volume of your box being about 764 555cm^3 if we imagine it to be 36" x 36" x 36", 764 555/24 = 31856 moles of Oxygen, with an average mass of 510Kg
