A 32 year old female survived finding an old oil platform in the Gulf of Mexico. See lived on old moldy bread and some water. Also found some paint so she could paint an SOS sign. It occurred off the Galveston, TX coast.

I think that she is a very brave quick thinking young lady. Her concern was, "I didn't want to get eaten by the fishes."
Her mother Janie Lopez said, "As long as she is my daughter, she'll never go to sea again."
Melinda Lopez said, "I don't even get in the water agian."

She has more "cajones" than me! The first time I was "bumped" by a large fish I would have promptly had a heart attack and drowned. I go fishing out of Galveston occassionally, and the next time I go I think I'll tie a rope to my leg so if I fall I'll just dangle instead of falling in.
Very courageous and level-headed woman!
