On my tiger desktop I am trying to make my icons view as a list, but it's gray and won't let me. How do I do it?

Right Click your desktop and choose "Show view options."

Under "Label Position" you want to check "Right" and check "Show item info."

what i mean is that view as a list option is gray...i want my desktop icons to be viewed as a list

you want to "show view options" for the desktop. and there, you can have the icons be arranged by name, date, kind, etc.

edit: if the option is grayed out, i'm not sure what's going on. 🙁

If you follow my instructions above, your desktop will be arranged exactly like the image you posted.

Right click on your desktop and click "Show View Options", then change label position to right, then click, show item info.
