Hardward or software raid?

Anyone have opinions on whether to get the $800 raid card or do the OS X software raid option?

Software implementation seems slower and more likely to `break'. Hardware also gives access to Raid 5.

i'm not the best person for this

but what from when i can tell is for RAID 1 it is not as necessary as it is just a mirror

but if you can get it..i would...might want to go with scsi or another raid config one day if high end is your gig

hey anyone knows if I can make Raid 10 (0+1 actually) with four harddrives withouth the raid card (means software based)? Or do I need the raid card?
