iPod touch Ipod touch won't mount in ITunes

Hi,

New to this forum;thanks for letting me in!
I just reinstalled my OS X because of a technical problem with Garage Band 08'.
I tried to plug in my IPod Touch(8 go) and ITunes can't mount it or show it....
Do I reinstall ITunes so that it can recognize it?Do I have to reinitialize it ,restore it????
