I think it's all about tv... new feature for appletv, new appletv, more things tv I'm really not waiting for?
since the speed-bumps + all things quad-core have been announced before I really don't think we need to expect anything on the computer side, it will all be about how many iPhone's there have been sold, how well iTunes is doing, how well the movie side of iTunes is doing and starting the movie/tvshow rental part (which we all know already) maybe they will even let someone from MS show us the new office :p
so as it has been for the last couple of times (in my perspective, not generalizing here) nothing new what I need, yes idd the iPhone didn't even got my heart beating faster -and that has nothing to do with the fact that we still have to wait for the belgian release-
*ducks now for all the rocks that people will throw at me (or some bricked iPhone's hehe)*

One day more!
Another day, another new display.
This never-ending road to the Bay;
Everybody knows the time;
The Apple Store will have a line
One day more!

That is the best thing I've ever read on MacRumors. :D

I am quite amused about the terminology saying that the MWSF Keynote can be watched pre-recorded on Apple's website on the afternoon of the same day.
I assume you meant just recorded instead of pre-recorded. Otherwise it would mean recorded before it is recorded. Isn't it ???!!!
I don't see the problem with that. After all, they did it in Spaceballs. :D

Two major issues with that "iPhone @ Home" banner:
One - it has to violate SF fire codes so the Fire Marshall would be all over it.
Two - why the heck would Apple, after being so effective at keeping stuff secret, unfurl a huge banner with a new product in the middle of the day in the middle of a wall of glass windows with everyone standing in front of said wall with a camera?
In the past, has Apple unfurled banners at MacWorld with new products launched at the keynote? If they have not, then that's a third major problem right there.
I know we're all starved for info, and speculation is fun, but people are trying way too hard to "scoop" something that cannot be scooped...
It doesn't matter if it is real or not. At least it would be an innovation, as opposed another notebook. ;) My only hope out of all this is that the iphone SDK will be released and someone will develop Back to my Mac for the iphone.
Granted I love small laptops, but sony, asus, dell and a lot of others have done it before. The only advantage Apple has is OSX.

do you think the fact that the background of the banner is black has anything to do with it. Maybe this super slim mac is black...with a silver apple...
they could have made the banners white or silver..but they picked black... a hint?
thoughts?
Yes I have a thought.
Apple's banners are always black.
That's not entirely true. Plenty have been white, multi-colored, etc. It depends on the product line being promoted, and whatever the marketing direction happens to be that time of year. Sure the trend has been towards black, but even last year's MWSF wasn't all black.
I think tMac85's thought was a really good one, though. Picturing that banner/teaser's treatment on a slim notebook would look really great, esp. with the product name in the light weight font. Even if the name was, say, MacLiteBook... hahaha.
edit: FressState beat me to it, with evidence even.

I don't know...I'm no photoshop wiz, but it looks pretty convincing. Look at the reflection in the floor. You can see the iphone edges if you look closely. And look at the man on the right...he sure looks like he's looking at a big black banner to me :)

[QUOTE=Nym;4749902]LMAO!
..Ermm.. Ok, Apple is definitely teasing us...
But I swear, this year I'll wait for the keynote clip to watch it spoiler free! No MacRumors for me! not even a peek! Or... Mail.app will trick me by alerting to a new mail in my inbox making me look at the application but when it opens... my MacRumors RSS Feed shows up!! Thus destroying all existence!
You'll be making a huge mistake. I "watched" Steve introduce the iPhone on MacRumors.Com last year. During the presentation I called my stock broker three different times ordering more stock buys. It was in mid-$80's at that time. Needless to say, this was a good move ... a VERY good move.:)

It's just the name for an Airport Extreme in the Japanese market. "Airport", lest we forget, does also have a meaning other than an Apple branded product. ;)
Chances are the potential mistranslation was deemed too confusing for the Asian market.

In Japan, the name "AirPort" had already been registered by I-O DATA, causing Apple to sell it under the name "AirMac" there.

"3DV is not alone in offering motion sense technology. A small Californian company, Gesturetek, is also at the show this year to display its prototype, Airpoint, which uses two small cameras to sense the movements of your fingers. It allows surfers to control computers like a touchscreen but without physical contact."
Still pretty unlikely, but more exciting to think about than a thin laptop.

I really hope I am wrong, But I have hard time believing ACDs will be announce at MWSF. Maybe at NAB or WWDC.
MacPro was just updated and ACDs did not come along. Many people did buy workstations last week with displays and Apple introducing a new display a week later will make many people angry. Not good PR if you ask me.
Tomorrow IMHO will be:
AppleTV 2.0
Movie rentals
iPhone 16gig, new apps and who knows maybe a 32gig version at $599
ultra-portable (Macbook air or whatever you want to call it)
But didn't a whole lot of people just buy iPhones for Christmas, so wouldn't they be upset, too, if there were new iPhones unveiled? Methinks the odds are better for new ACDs than iPhones.

I really like the strapline. I can totally agree that NAS's by themselves are ugly - file management wise. An Apple product to go one above a NAS would rock.

The only problem is if Apple introduces a slim notebook as a product of it's own instead of replacing the MacBook you can bet they will price it at a HUGE premium.
Don't be surprised to see $1999 for this puppy!! I would buy one if the price is close to a MacBook however (here's hoping I'm really wrong on the big price). My money however is a MacBook replacement entirely. There is no room in Apple's simplified product line for another laptop. A consumer and Pro laptop has worked for them and should stay the same.

You know, I'm really starting to wonder if there is something more to this "Air" thing than just a light laptop. Wired reports a wireless machine (implying lack of an ethernet port). OK, so you can use Wi-Fi when available. But it's not available enough (at least open networks).
A few months ago I remember hearing that Teh Steve was meeting with some guy who was setting up some sort of national Wi-Fi sharing network. Could this have something to do with that? Or is it possibly some kind of arrangement with AT&T where it would be like iPhones and tap into the EDGE network or whatever 3G technology they have coming up? Both possibilities sound like potential new revenue streams for Apple, and subscription-based too, as they have been increasingly favoring.

Hi everybody :)
Tubby from Canada, reporting for duty!
Here's my thoughts, ridiculous as they may be...
"Something in the air" might actually mean "something suspended in glass".
Could this be the return of the G4 Cube??
Okay, okay, maybe not the Cube... but considering Apple is gung-ho on the aluminum & glass these days (iMac, iPhone, NY cube store), maybe they are going to unveil something that is completely encased in glass.
I've seen pics of the new Dell monitors, where the LCD and speakers are floating in a pane of glass... fugly, but neat. Apple could do better... maybe they will.
New ACDs? Hmmm...
We are getting close to iTMS movie tore rentals, and we are due for an AppleTV refresh... perhaps the idea is to make an end-to-end, integrated media experience, and the final piece of the puzzle is a crazy-ass Cinema Display, with ultra-small chassis built in glass to hide as much frame as possible.
I'd still prefer a new Cube, but a killer screen would be exciting too.
Anyhow, I say the "air" is actually "glass"... and the "something" is definitly "something".
Cheers everyone!!

What if this is what is “in the air”… Imagine this… Apple is creating a whole new infrastructure of wi-max. Apple, partnered with Starbucks, plants wi-max radios in a mess-o-Starbucks properties. Creating a new, nationwide, integrated system of high speed internet, and other services (iPhone wi-max?) This would bypass the entire 3G and other systems locked down to various cell phone companies. Imagine, wi-max in every community of any significant size, no matter where you are, at your house, your work, your play space. Imagine all the nifty stuff Apple might do integrating hardware, software and universal access to the cloud. Perhaps it might have enough band width to stream those rumored rental videos on iTunes? I have not the faintest idea of how it might be priced, or who could sign up for it. Would it be limited to Apple hardware? I have no idea how this might work outside the US, either...
This is probably completely fantasy… just thinking….

Like everyone else I love to speculate about possible products or services revealed at Jobsnotes. "Something in the air" e.g. might relate to:
The rumored Apple-JayZ music label cooperation (most disappointing idea)
An improved iPhone
A revamped Apple TV/Mac mini as the wireless hub of your digital living room
The much-rumored new (sub-)Macbook Pro or an iMac-style PC, maybe even with a detachable screen to form a seperate tablet (potentially also with touch technology)
Something completely else that no one sees coming
And whatever it is, we can expect a "something in the air" ad with music related to this theme or even with this actual title (by Thunderclap Newman, Bowie, Tom Petty or Fish). Somehow this also reminds me of the music in this old iMac G3 "Colors" commercial:

Interesting, if they are really redecorating the display space in the stores in relation to today's announcements it must be something that is available either today or very soon after MWSF.
Makes a new iPhone that would have to be FCC approved in advance less likely, at least as the "one more thing".
