I have a Dlink dl 524 Router and I am considering buying an Airport Extreme base station.

Will I notice any difference using it on my MacBook? I didn't count on any advantage to matching the products, but perhaps it is a better performer than the router I have.......

Depends, how fast is your network connection?

Though regardless of ISP connection speed, moving to N will make transfers to other computers on the network much faster.

If your MacBook is 802.11n capable (the last two revisions have been, the one before that is with a firmware upgrade), the Airport will be faster, although you won't see a tremendous difference, except when sharing files on a network, apparently (http://www.barefeats.com/net80211n.html). I won't upgrade, personally, unless you want the features that the Airport offers.

Edit: What forrest says. :)

Well the airport I linked was the teardrop one, which appears to be a B&G network. I have a buddy getting rid of one and I figured why not make it an all apple network. I'm on cable modem.
