Which one of your laptops that you still use often has the most battery life?

I have a C2D MBP, ibook G4, and a Toshiba laptop. For me, the ibook G4 last the longest.. about twice as much as the Toshiba and MBP. I bought the MBP hoping to replace my ibook G4.. but, even though everything runs soo much smoother on it, the battery life is crap.

I've had 2 Sonys and 1 HP all of which are retired but they all got about 45 minutes out of the box. My MacBook gets 4 hours.

The portables I've had:

12" 1.33GHz PowerBook G4
12" 1.33GHz iBook G4
13" 2.0GHz C2D MacBook

Nuffin' can come close to the battery life of that iBook. Just, unbelievable.

May I ask how it compares to that macbook? I've been looking for a new portable with decent battery life.

I had a Toshiba for a couple days. Longest battery life. 1 hour. It was the reason I returned it. I am getting over 4 hours on my Black Macbook.

G3 iBook showed 5h+ even when I bought it secondhand with 70 cycles.

17" Gateway showed 5h+ with processor throttled to 1ghz and screen dimmed.

15" Gateway under similar conditions showed up to 7h+.

Macbook doesn't come close to any of these.

I haven't tested it, but doing basic web surfing (so pretty much just Firefox running, along with Wi-Fi, my MBP is estimating 4:30, whereas my old HP would have been extremely lucky to get 2 just sitting on the desktop with Wireless everything off and brightness all the way down.

I'm pretty satisfied with my 2.16 mbp. I get on average about 4:30 to 5 hours with wifi on, bluetooth off, after 97 cycles! gotta love apple :D

my clamshell has a solid 5 hours, that's better than anything I've ever had. the DualUSB G3 ibook has a nice 3.5 average (when it's working)

And alas my MBP has a nice 2.5 tops.

I was getting 4-4.5 hrs on my MB. Hope the MBA gets around the same.

In descending order:

iBook 12"
PB 12"
MBP 15"

Way down here.
GIGANTA HUGE HP my brother has.

Way down here, this slightly slimmer HP my Aunt has. It gets like half an hour, 45 minutes top.

I get about 4-4:30 hours with my MBP 2.2. It's pretty good, I never bring a power adapter to school because I almost always have enough juice to last through all my classes. The only problem is my battery health is going downhill fast lol.

So all of you who posted your battery life claims, do you get them from the battery menu? Or do you actually time it using a real watch/system time etc...

What I mean to say is [Example]

"I get 5 hours of battery because..."

a) The battery menu says I have 5:11 left
or
B) I've been running on battery since 1:00pm and its now past 6 o clock.

just wonderin'

Well, I just started using my ibook G4 more often. And when I was using it back in the day, I was able to get 4-6 hrs.

Today, I took it to school and it said 2:30. Though, I didn't have a long enough chance to actually test it out. It just said that in the bar. (with wifi on) :(
