also new airport extremes with internal hd - 299 for 500gb, 499 for 1 terabyte.

Doesn't say if time capsule is only on these machines or if it will work with any NAS.

I just hope time capsule works with old airport extreme with gigabit and external hard drive. No way I am spending 299 to replace my airport extremem plus 750 external.

yeah, i'm kind of surprised more people aren't enthused by it. it could be a simple media server. i've never been in the market for one so i'd have to price compare, but I'm intrigued by it.

i wish this was set up to work with the iPhone/iPod Touch as well. if podcasts over wifi and rentals over wifi work with appletv with no computer, surely this would work with the iPhone as well.

i doubt it. i actually haven't heard steve say "one more thing" in years. he's set an outline and it looks like he's sticking to it.

This should have been designed as a tablet. It's pretty weak in terms of Apple's level of ingenuity that we've all been accustomed to. I'm not overly impressed with it and certainly won't be getting one.

it's not like the macbook is the titanic though. i can load it up with 4gigs from crucial, a 250 gig hd and a superdrive for about 1500.

In all fairness, those products made sense in their respect because they were priced less than a product that had better specs. this is outpricing the macbook which has better specs all around save for multi-touch pad and size.

Exactly. For me, a MacBook will be fine. But the new Air certainly wins in the 'cool' category, and Apple has shown time and time again that there's tons of money to made there!

was looking for better storage mainly, perhaps an optical drive to remove the need for my DVD player, and a whole number of the possible suggestions mentioned in the forums interest me.

I know I could "hack" it to achive some of them, but thats not my thing and would prefer the Apple Official version

Randy Newman will drain the excitement out of any crowd.

The MBAir will be a huge seller. As someone who travels frequently, all I can say is "The smaller, the better". The multi-touch trackpad and LED backlit display are big pluses, too.

Overall thoughts......meh......
1. No new iphone....just software updates
2. No new AppleTV...just software updates
3. A wireless backup hard drive......
4. A super thin laptop...but the SSD version is over $3000

I think Mac fans were thinking new iphone, new AppleTV, some tablet

Basically we got a super expensive (albeit nice) thin laptop....

Oh well...........
