Wireless external drive

I have an external hard drive. I travel a lot and its cumbersome to bring this on the road with me. I was wondering if it is possible to access this through the internet somehow. I only have a Linksys router without a USB input.

I want to know if there is something other than buying another external hard drive or an Airport Extreme that I can do to access these files from the internet?
 
A couple of alternatives, but both involve some expense:

1. Buy yourself a USB > Ethernet bridge such as the d-link NSLU2 which will allow you to use your USB drive as NAS

2. Buy yourself a cheap NAS drive enclosure and fit the drive from your existing USB enclosure to it.

Dependent on the hardware you choose, you may have to format the drive as FAT32 for the NAS to work.
 
will a usb ethernet bridge allow me to access this hard drive from another location, not just on my network?

I cant find the d-link NSLU2. is there another usb ethernet bridge you can recommend?
