Hi Peoples

Has anyone looked into 1.13 and seen any advantages at all in this upgrade?
Let's put dock design aside...is safari running any faster? Is your music/pic/vid experience more dreamy? Have you already rented 'Mean Girls' for 24 hours from ITunes? Are software bugs scurrying like roaches when the lights are turned on?

Please tell us if it's worth an extra 50mb of clutter in the basement😉

if i wanted to watch little, itty, bitty movies one month after i could rent the dvd for $2 and pay twice that.

i would upgrade.

No, Really!

My sarcasm might put too much noise in the thread...

I'm looking for real benefits in 1.13...are there any?

You want a straight answer? No. All it does is move the youtube icon over and prepares it for the january update which THAT is the one that you would want... all kinda of things for a small fee... $20.00 😀

I won't be upgrading to 1.13 until there is a Slingbox app out. Current update leaves me unconvinced.

I don't know if I would trust anybody about the 1.1.3 firmware update for at least the next couple of days. There is a ton of misinformation going around right now.

Nope

Just observing that after having played with everything for a while, there aren't any amazing performance leaps to be had with 1.1.3. If you're looking for PDA capability, the software update will suit you nicely, but the rest of the Touch doesn't seem to have changed much at all.

I'm downloading the update now ("53 minutes remaining" Grr...). Doesn't it have the customizable home screen?

Maybe the update is trying to prevent jailbreaking since now Apple will be charging for the iPhone apps.

My Xmas Ipod has been perfect right out of the Lennon box...

No freezes...no bad pixels...safari response equal to wifi strength...no inverse black issues with vid playback etc...all in all a good consumer purchase.

With 8GB to play with I just don't understand useless bloatware...I run a lean entertainment package (500 songs/12 television episodes/2 movies/16-20 podcasts) and I still have gigs of space to spare.

What I don't need is incremental 'fixes' that provide nothing but additional revenue streams for apple.

Thanks for the heads up so far...you guys are great!

You guys who say to wait. The price won't go away. And $50 to everyone if the 1.1.3 gets hacked. 😉 Trust.. me... it.. wont. 🙂

If you have an old universal dock than no, you don't have to pay for the cable. I'm not sure if it's in the free or $20 version as i have the $20 version...but i doubt that apple would make you pay for that. But you never know.....

The update fixed a few bugs and prepares your Touch for viewing rented movies from iTunes. It's free, why wouldn't you want to keep your device up to date?

It's amazing the amount of confusion there is flying around all the forums.

1.1.3 Update is free
Applications Upgrade $20

If you don't want the 5 news apps, don't buy them. Just grab the free 1.1.3 update.

With respect to Project359

I am trying to intelligently manage my 8GB...err...7.23GB of formatted space...I know that 50mb of firmware updating is a small drip of data...but, I have seen every digital device I own slowly crowded by useless 'fixes'.

I look for *real*, well thought-out answers to present day problems that deserve the space they occupy. I'm just asking what does 1.13 do for my ipt?

Aren't lyrics also enabled in 1.1.3?

One bug in Safari that I believe is fixed in 1.1.3 is that it works better with multiple browsers open. With 1.1.2 if a website opened a new window when you clicked on a link then when you went back to the first window the "in progress" wheel kept turning and turning. To get it sorted out I usually rebooted.
