I'll run it in Virtual PC... just because it's there! Might not play well at all, but I can still browse. And then I'll know what my PC friends see when I tell them to try it out. Or maybe I'll dust off my Actual PC.

I almost answered that I'd test it, then noticed we're talking about the Music Store. The link on MacBytes just says iTunes. I'm not in the US so I can't buy anything, but I'll probably talk my brother into installing iTunes on his PC.

The Mac version is good enough for me, unless the Windows version offers something the Mac one does not. Would they let such a thing happen?

Funny how 14 people so far have said they have no internet access, yet they were all able to vote in this poll....ah well maybe they are at the library or something...

I think you misread "no interest"

I would but then I'd have to install a OS through VPC and that will be a waste of time won't it :)

I won't (no Windows box), but I will be promoting it to all my PC friends. I hope to have hundreds of switchers by next week.
It's like collecting scalps, y'know ;)

I am an International user, so I will not be able to use the iTMS. But as I understand I will now be able to install iTunes on my windows-laptop at work, right? So no more Windows Media Player for me! The big question now is will it support rendezvous? Will it play AAC? Will it be as good as on the Mac?

I'll almost certainly install iTunes for Windows but as I am in the UK cannot use the Music Store (and would probably use the Mac version if I was going to).

I'll test it out at work where we're all Windows. I'll be puttin' 'em on my Mac once I get home, though.

I'll load it up on a friend's computer and check it out, but I'm already happily downloading here with my mac. (60 songs as of yesterday.)
Both my dad and brother were big Kaza fans so I hope Apple will sell some kind of iTunes Music Store gift card or something around the holiday time so I can give them the program and $ for songs. That would be a great way to introduce them to the program then hopefully if they like it they'll continue to download on their own.

There should've been an option - No PC - Use it on my Mac.
I will try to get people I know to use the Winblows version.

Yep, but only to see how smoothly iTunesPC works with my ipod and ibook 600. Sadly, my PC desktop does everything faster and I prefer burning CD's on it. Some day, I will be all-mac and put this inbetween disfunction behind me.

Now there is a fantastic idea. It's just a twist on the drug dealer's "first one's free" mentality. Get 'em hooked on your product. Then all of us Apple supporters could send $10 gift certificates to our windows friends, and see how many get hooked.;)

on at least two pc's, but only because I'll hopefully (with panther) be able to access my imac's library across the wifi and burn cds. Itll hopefully be faster than my current method of transferig mp3's to the computer with the burner. But then
I'll hopefully get an ipod soon, and that will be even better. Much much better
I know my pc using family is hyped about getting itunes

Interesting choices.
Why only have "Yes, I will test it out" and "Yes, it is the only way I can access" as the two "yes" choices?
How about "Yes, I plan to use both versions regularly."?
One Mac, three PC's -- one with WinXP. I will be using iTunes (and the iTMS) equally from both the Mac and the WinXP PC.

I voted no due to international restrictions, however I have iTunes 4 and regularly listen to the 30 second clips available, and I will be downloading the Windows version when it appears to do the same thing! Come on Apple - get that UK music contract sorted!

It's a seperate data point.
-PC+MAC - Use it only on Mac
-MAC Only - Use it on Mac
In other thoughts, do you think a Linux version of iTunes would be a good or a bad idea?

I currently have no interest in iTunes. Happy with playing my CD's My wife purchase one song from the Music Store.

I think most Windows users have already downloaded as many songs that they need from the illegal services.
On the other hand, once iTunes is experienced by Windows users, MusicMatch doesn't stand a chance (even with a 99-cent price per song).

As long as it works in Virtual PC and Win98SE, I'll be glad to download it to show a little support for Apple. If they had a mind-blowing download record, the other services would look a bit more pale than they already do.

Is it just me or are there a lot more responses to this poll then usual. As of right now there are 2516 votes. I gues maybe there a lot of PC users looking forward to this or somebody is "stuffing the poll."

A Linux version would surely be a good idea. Mac OS X and Linux reinforce each other in the marketplace and the minds of computer users.
One, because code and software can often be ported back and forth with much more ease than between Mac and Windows, for example. Two, because their very existence helps to break the "Windows is the only option" mentality that keeps the meek in the MS pasture.
Helping to make Linux a more viable option (by writing Apple software for it), weakens MS, which for decades has sought to eliminate Apple.
It is a smart survival move to diversify!

My biggest hope is that my PC friends start to just use iTunes. I doubt that they'd use the iTMS. They don't want to buy music. I can't convince them. No point in arguing.
But hopefully I can get them to switch to iTunes.

I hope someone at Apple is reading this. A linux version of iTunes would be brilliant!
As a Canadian, I won't be able to buy any music from Apple until the lawyers are tired of collecting money from all the parties concerned. But I'll put iTunes on my Win2k box and update the one on my TiBook when the new version comes out.
Cheers

It would be a good idea, but a huge problem exists on Linux. There's too much choice in GUIs. Gnome and KDE are very popular, so if they focus on one, what happens with the other? Someone will cry "foul!" They haven't created a QuickTime player for this reason and I can't imagine that anything will change shortly.

OK, let's have a command-line version of the iTunes Music Store. Instead of one-click buying, you could have no-click buying. For example, a script could run at midnight, lookup the top-selling tune, and buy it and download it if you didn't already own it. Every morning, you'd have the latest hit already installed. Who needs an interface?

I love iTunes on my Mac... I CAN'T WAIT for iTunes for Windows. I have a P4 laptop with XP Pro that my work gives me. iTunes really spoils you. There is no equivalent on the PC side.... WinAmp sucks, Music Match sucks, WMP REALLY sucks...
I've been hoping for the last year or so that someone would just blatantly rip off apple and release an iTunes equivalent on the PC, just so I could organize my music better, and here is Apple doing it themselves. I can’t wait. I’ve got all my PC friends at work excited about iTunes, I hope it lives up….
My boss just got an iPod last week and hasn't even installed the software on his PC to use it yet. iTunesPC couldn't have come at a better time.

You're right! I'm going to give up all my GUI right now and load Darwin onto all of my machines. I can use UNIX mail rather than a GUI e-mail application. I did it so long ago--why not now? :D
