Seriously, what has everyone got against it?
Looks more technical and functional.
Black and aluminium is the new white.

I like it. Surprised because I don't like the black and aluminum iMac.

I actually like it. Reminds me of a throwback to the Titanium PowerBook G4s. I wish the MacBook Pros had this keyboard.

I haven't been overly thrilled about Apple's material and color choices lately. Especially the iMac and the iPod Nanos. I do like the black on aluminum better than white on aluminum. Their new keyboards sitting next to an iMac makes me shudder.
The MBA looks ok, though I think there is still room for improvement.

No, it does look and feel awesome.
The current MBP keyboard looks funky and dated in comparison.

Love it: looks great & by all reports feels great too. Would love to see it in a MBP... like right now!

Black and aluminium is the new white.
I also think it looks sharp!
It makes a statement (not sure exactly what statement that is, but it's a statement none the less.)

I'm thinking of getting a black keyboard for my Macbook, and just changing the keys... seriously. :D

i haven't actually seen one yet but i'm not that keen on the black keyboard. i do wonder how much more black they could be. the answer is none. none more black.

I wish they would make normal keyboards in aluminium/black instead of the current white ones.

It is a throwback to the Titanium Powerbook G4's...which i loved.........
...apart from the keyboard colour
Guys, it'll date really quickly, don't ask me why they did it

No, I like it too!
And x2 on the post above that they should make the keys on the aluminum keyboards black instead of white. And maybe make it backlight! Yeah, not gonna happen.

Anything but current MBP keyboard is fine with me. The current SR MBP keyboard looks cheap, feels cheap, there is no contrast and horrible font. And it works accordingly, just look at Apple discussion forums.

It's growing on me. I suppose it's more practical than white and will show the backlit keys better at night.

The MacBook Pro keyboard is my favorite Apple laptop keyboard. The one on my G3 iBook is pretty good. I hate the MacBook keyboard.

I love the black keyboard. The black-on-aluminum contrast is beautiful. It kind of reminds me of the TiBook, it's sort of Apple's retro style. I prefer this style over white.

Looks just like my dell inspiron, so no.

it does remind me of a dell. To me the black just doesn't match. I would have liked to have seen the whole computer black. As they say black is slimming! Haha. I'm sure the keyboard will grow on me.

Does anyone know if the keys on the MBA keyboard are the same as the black Macbook? If thats the case then it would have the same problem of getting all shiny after a bit of use. I hope the keys are made of a different material.

The black keyboard looks fine to me. I agree that having illuminated letters on black keys will make it easier to work with, and it might even help save power since the illumination will contrast more against black keys than against silver.

i guess its a matter of taste, eh?

The moment I saw I thought it was the coolest part of the Air. It looks so damn good! Especially in the dark when the backlight goes on! :o

I like it. I'd love for the Macbooks to have a backlit keyboard, the only real feature I'd miss on them.

I like the design on the MBP and MBA. Still hate both versions of the MacBook. Bring on the aluminum revolution!

I'm sure it's just for brand-line distinction. It can't be that expensive.

I think the black keyboard is the ugliest part of the MBA's design. There's cool retro, but it's not the TiBook's color scheme. Granted, I think they should have made a black-key aluminum desktop keyboard like this (and a black mightymouse) to go with the new iMac's color scheme. However, they should have made the MBA keys aluminum-colored or at least white, but preferrably aluminum. Having an aluminum body, black keyboard, and white cords is just straying too far from my minimalist color taste. Here's hoping the next MBP keeps aluminum colored keys (I doubt it, but fingers crossed).

+1
As earlier posters mentioned. The black keyboard makes it look more like a Dell :(. Less is more - keep it simple (wrote that just to be the first to write these clichés :p)

The black keys go very well with the aluminum imo. Do I prefer it over having aluminum keys? No... but is it ugly... I don't think so

Not a fan. White on silver a la the new keyboards is more preferable imo, perhaps it presented an issue with the illumination feature. The silver look of the powerbook/mbp line would have been just fine tbh.
