Hello macrumors forum. I have a 1.25ghz 17" imac g4 and it is having a hard time with installing os x. I recently upgraded the ram to 2gb, swapped the hard drive for a 500gb, and changed the optical drive. Both before and after this surgery, the poor imac has been having a very hard time with the osx installer. It starts fine, but always has errors after a while and tells me the installation failed. It has failed with its original restore discs, and with a jaguar dvd. Any help would be much appreciated. Also, it fails to boot into safe mode.

i think i had my versions confused. The restore discs have 10.3, and I also have tried a retail dvd of 10.4. leopard has not been tried, but i cant see that working any better than the other two versions.
