my friends has a stiffer keyboard, and mine has a softer touch. Do they use different manufacturers for the different keyboards or what?

I think there are several versions. I've felt stiffer keyboards too, while mine is mushier and softer. Would like the other one!

Yeh my 2.2 GHz MBP (current gen) has different keys etc... to my 1.83 GHz MacBook Pro, and a completely different keyboard feel...

Dunno bout the current gen MacBook Pros though. A friend has exactly the same laptop as me and it feels identical...

Hmmm i wonder if you can convert a stiff keyboard to soft if you take it to a Genius Bar or Mac specialist..

and vice versa.

I'm really curious now

Does it really matter how hard/soft the keyboard is? As long as it works properly, I don't care.

To me it definitely matters when I'm typing all day. I want a firm, crisp feel rather than a mushy, uncertain feel. If you type a lot and have typed on a good keyboard, it makes a difference.

The best ones, still, are the thinkpad keyboards. Nobody has replicated that great, high-quality feel.
