Wireless 2-button mouse?

Is anyone using a wireless 2-button mouse with their Alum iMac?

1. Easy to install?
2. Logitech makes one with a tiny usb receiver that is hardly bigger than the usb plug itself.

3. I wanted to plug the receiver into the right hand usb port on the keyboard.
4. Do they work ok?

I like the design? I'm so so on the mighty mouse so this may work better for me.

I've used the USB receiver from my Logitech wireless mouse in one of the USB ports on my old iMac G3 keyboard, and it works fine. Even though the USB ports on Apple keyboards are low-power, they provide enough power for wireless mice receivers.

For some reason I thought the USB ports on the wired keyboard were not low - powerd on then new ones. Maybe I'm wrong on that.

You do know that the apple ones have two buttons if you change one setting in the system preferences?

That particular Logitech mouse is called the VX Nano and it is expensive ($70.00) ! ! ! They sell a V220 with a bit larger receiver for $30.00 on sale. I am planning on waiting utill the micro receiver is offered on a more basic mouse.

Yes, I know that you can teach your mighty mouse to act like it has two buttons. You push on either the left or right sides of the single big button and the tilting of the top effects a right click for instance.

mikeActually, it's not tilting that senses the left and right clicks. You have to lift up your left finger and click to do a right click. There's a sensor in the top of the Mighty Mouse that senses when you take your left finger off the mouse. It's somewhat annoying at first, but I've gotten so used to it that I don't even think about it.

Personally, I'd recommend the Logitech V470 though it's Bluetooth. Bluetooth mice are so great. You don't need to plug anything in.

I have the MS wireless laser mouse 8000. It comes with a little USB dongle, a charging station and match's the new Alu iMac's really well.

While my Logitech MX Revolution doesn't match my aluminum iMac nearly as well as the MS 8000 it is hands down the finest mouse I have ever owned.

It has a dongle that fits fine in the right hand USB port of the aluminum iMac keyboard, which is where I have it installed so I know for sure the VX dongle would also work fine there. The MX dongle is longer and sticks out from the side of the keboard about one centimeter.

The dual function click-wheel on the MX with it's fast scroll is probably my single favorite feature but the mouse is just an amazing piece of hardware overall.

If you do get a Logitech mouse you may want to invest in a 3rd party driver like Steermouse as the Logitech Control Center is historically crappy software.

Yes, the bluetooth v470 is also neat. How well does it connect I wonder?

I wish there was a bluetooth mouse out now (like the MX800 from logitech) that had all of the great features and everything... but didn't have a dongle.

I don't want to waste a USB port and I don't want a laptop mouse!

Logitech V270 is Bluetooth and full size.

I'm using a Logitech LX7 that I used with a PC. It was plug and play when I hooked it up using the dongle plugged into the left USB port on the keyboard. The only functions that weren't enabled and were not part of the OS X menu were forward/back programming of the small buttons. Someone here recommended downloading Steermouse. That did the trick. It is now a very fully functioning wireless mouse. The app is free. Just Google it.
