Apologies if already posted, but I am wondering whether there is a way to display the HD space (either the total/free, or total/occupied) with the icon on the Desktop in Leopard. I tried to look around but couldn't find a way. I am quite new to Leopard and OS X in general.
Cheers

In the menu bar at the top of the screen:

Click View -> Show View Options -> Check the box "Show Item Info"

Another thing you can do, and this is going beyond what you are asking, is to get iStatMenus. This puts all kinds of handy info up in your MenuBar. Mine for example has the CPU Temp, CPU Load, RAM usage and HDD Usage. It all sort stems from my days OCing my Athlon XP-M, I have to know all this information or I am not happy.
