Can you connect an external hard drive via the USB port or to a USB hub?
Do you have to use it on a wide screen TV? I have a 32" Sony but it isnt wide screen.

The USB port is disabled on AppleTV out of the box.

You can use it on a TV that has component inputs. If your TV doesn't have the ability to set the input to 16x9, the UI will looked squished.
