Hello,

I'm looking to pick up Logic Studio, and a portable to run it. I'll be using Logic mainly as a composition tool-- software intstruments, printing sheet music, etc... I'll also likely do some demo recording, but one or two mics-- no multitrack setups.

Trying to decide the best route to go-- Macbook or Macbook Pro. My understanding is that the main difference will be in screen real estate and in peripheral hookups-- that the processors should be a wash.

Financially, it'll be a little tough to get the Pro. However, if it really is that much better than the Macbook, I can make it work.

Any thoughts?

A macbook should be fine. I knew someone who used logic on an 1ghz iBook for live shows, so you should be alright!
Would be good to boost the RAM though after you buy it.

For whatever reason, I think mainstage may require standalone graphics, but Logic will run just fine on a MB. Get the MB, save your money, and then upgrade down the road if you need more power, after you get a better bearing about what you need more of...

EDIT: RAM is cheap, 4GB is where you want to be.
