Why can't I add an entire song's worth of lyrics in the lyric field here? I get an error pop-up, titled "Summary Properties" that reads "a disk error occured during write operation."

Thats weird, I can add full lyrics to songs without a hitch.
This is most likely a ridiculous suggestion, but try repairing disk permissions on the dick containing the iTunes folder.

What are you trying to paste? Are you typing it in yourself or pasting something from a textfile / website?

Are you alo using iTunes? If so, you should be able to add the lyircs there, without a problem.

Try a few using iTunes. I think iTunes will write the data to the tag (as opposed to the XML file).

This video explains very thoroughly. Very simple, too.
