I'm going to buy VMWare Fusion and copy my PC drive's contents to a virtual machine on my iMac. So I'll have this SATA 180gig HD left over. Can I just use it as an extra external? If so, what would be the best(cheapest) way to do this? I just want to be able to plug it in when I want to archive something like movie files or pix. Thanks.

Other World Computing (OWC) sells Firewire case kits that let you take regular HDDs and make them portable external drives. You'll probably need to format that drive to work with the Mac.

Firewire is better, USB 2.0 external enclosure is cheaper.

Firewire is the best way to go if you plan on actually using it. If you just want it for cheap storage then USB is much cheaper.
