Well, just bit the bullet and bought a new imac (24 inch, 2.4 gigs). What a beautiful, and functional machine. I am now fully converted to macs. I started out in june with a mac mini, than in december I got a MBP, and than today my Dell PC died, so I said f-it, and got the imac. Seems great so far without any issues. The only thing that I wish it had was a matte screen the equivalent of the Apple Cinema Display.

Ive now realized that if one does not do extensive gaming, a mac is really the best computer out there, alot less hassles than windows, things are much easier to do (seems like the same task takes twice as long on a PC than it does on mac), and everything is done in such a logical way. I really just dont understand the widespread appeal that windws based machines have, or microsoft products in general.

Probably sounds nerdy, but Im gonna put an apple sticker on my car.

Congratulation, you found the way!

I put my Apple sticker on over my mom's laptop logo (it was Samsung, God that thing sucked).

yeah, "finding the way" is a good descritopn, but I would call it more of a spiritual awakening.

Congrats on your purchase. My new 20" iMac arrived today... my first Mac ever after 10+ years of using Windows. I'm loving mine too! :D

even though my PC died, I couldnt really justify it, since I have MBP AND a macmini being used as a media center in the living room, but screw it, you only live once right????

Grats on your new machine, and welcome to Mac Rumors.

Congrats! I too am planning on ditching traditional PC's and going the iMac way, largely to clean up a bunch of cable clutter and upgrade to a larger monitor. So far I'm half-way into the transition, by getting an MBP. Next up is the iMac 20'', 2.4. The transition phase will be fully complete once I sell off PC's parts (its custom built).

I'll still have to use Boot Camp/Fusion to load Windows XP for work-related stuff... Its not all bad, as I'll have the best of both worlds.

Ok, not that I am dampening your mood or nothin' but think that one over a bit. I like being a closet Apple zealot.
And I think I will buy that exact iMac today.

I was driving through the town I live in here in Japan the other day when I noticed the car in front of me had a white Apple sticker from a Mac on the rear window and I thought "whoa! THAT'S what you do with that thing, cool!"

I'm definitely sticking it on the rear window of my own car.

Let your freak flag fly. There's no reason to stay in the closet plus it looks cool on a car.

You can wait a lifetime for the right opportunity, only to realize that every day spent staring at your watch that opportunity is passing by.

Congrats with your purchase. I'm looking to ditch my Windows PC for a Mac too. Just can't decide between an iMac or a Mac Pro

For most people, I suspect, the Mac Pro, while something to drool over, is not really necessary. If you intend to use demanding applications, then it's the right choice - or if you just want to spoil yourself!

The iMac suffices for the majority: it's a good machine, has plenty of speed, takes up to 4GB RAM, and up to 1TB hard disk. It also saves space and has a certain elegance.

Whichever machine you choose, Mac OS X is a work of art in more ways than one. Having moved from a PC recently, I've recovered my old enthusiasm and am again enjoying using a computer.

Just curious, what would those demanding applications be that would be best suited on a macpro?

Probably for people who do very heavy video editing, or large-scale renderings of complex scenes... While I'd love to get one of these, my line of work doesn't generate enough demand on even an iMac (I'm a software developer by day). :D
