that would make a nice G6 :D
Better make that two of them in the Dual :)
I don't think we want to know the cost

So when will the PowerBook G6 come out? I'm hoping for Q2 2004, or else I will get upset with Apple and buy a Dell! :D ;)

It's only recommended to use after you've had all the children you want (or can handle) :D

wow - i think the next powermac should be dual of these across the line.
lets do some theoretical BS maths:
G5 = 1/2 IBM P4
2x G5 = 9 fans …………(current G5)
IBM P5 = 2x IBM P4 …(according to IBM)
1x IBM P4 = 9 fans ..…(turn g5s back into P4s)
1x IBM P5 = 18 fans …(P5 = 2xP4)
8x IBM P5 = 36 fans …(single 8way chip)
16xIBM P5 = 72 fans …(dual config)
Now THAT would be my jet engine. Maybe they should measure its performance in "mach"s i.e. Mach 1.5.
Now the girls can like them too - no need for a hair dryer anymore - just stand infront of your powermac and watch it suck the water off your hair and in turn you wil be water cooling your powermac.

I hope they include a vegetarian menu, as well.

The Opteron can be configured into an 8 way system, but that chip is really something. Aside form looking like a mouse pad and needing the most extravagant cooling solution ever conceived, it is probably the most powerful CPU ever constructed. Bravo International Business Machines, despite the overkill bravo

10 years from now I bet no one would consider it overkill, though.

in ten years that will be very obselete and its repacement will be smaller then the nail on your pinky finger.. have 10+ as much cache. maybe 100 processors and run probably 100's of times faster and be considered a "consumer" chip not a server/workstation chip
:) also
it will be sitting inside you new g7 ibook.
running os XV
beating the crap outa the P7 running windows Mountain Goat XP4

If only they could make it with G5's. It would be a nice upgrade card for the dual G5 :D
Hmmm, maybe something to update those Macs at Virginia Tech?!?!

no - the G4s and new G5s are going to be bitches to upgrade. I know i got it lucky cause my CPUs are on daughter boards - still doesnt solve the 64bit problem.

hmmm, somewhere in these forums somebody says that you can do the same with G5's (cluster the procs together with a maximum of 8). On page 2 there is a forum of 3hu xserves.... Does anybody think what I think...?!?!
