Adding RAM to macbook, does this invalidate the warranty?

Question as above really, fancy upgrading my macbook RAM to 2GB from 1GB but was unsure if it invalidates the warranty?

Also if I do upgrade the RAM does the macbook do anything the first time its booted up like a PC to say it recognises the new RAM?
 
It does not void your Mac's warranty. I'd like to know why you thought it would. It's a very common misconception.

There is no visible memory check on boot upon successful installation but you can look under Apple -> About This Mac once you get to the desktop.
 
as posted above Apple classify the Ram and Hard-drive on their Macbooks as "user replaceable parts" and even produce a PDF guide to replacing both. Just search apple.com/support for the guides.
