iPod touch Once and for all: VPN=802.1x?

Hey guys,

Once and for all...Can the people who need 802.1x authentication finally shutup (including me) because of the VPN capabilities of the touch? Is that what a VPN is? How would I get it working?

VPN != 802.1x

My university has a fall back solution via VPN authentication for older wireless clients vs. the new 802.1x solution.
