iPod 2.1 Update takes forever??

Hey, Quick question for you all... i just bought a 3rd gen iPod and am updating the firmware for the first time, and i was wondering... does it always take FOREVER to complete the process?? I've been watching the progress bar for close to 15 minutes now and its barley moved! How long should i let it go before i eject the sucker?

nope, only took me 3-4 minutes to update. You might need to reboot your ipod and try again.

On a similar note...my updated bounces a couple times then stops. The application doesn't open...thus I can't update. Mildly frustrating. I tried opening the 2.0.1 updater, and it did the same thing (though I used it to update my ipod previously) Any suggestions?
