Howdy Folks:

I am getting daily kernel panics and crashed apps. I will like to install a new 500G Hard Drive and start from scratch -

Can I take the HD in my machine now , put it in a case , install the new 500G HD in machine - install OS X tiger and just grab my files from old HD ( now in case ) and install files this way ?

Cheers:

Save your files to an external hd quickly (I lost everything by not doing this) I now have a new hard disc but the tiger os (on another machine) doesnt automatically read panther I've had to convert everthing to rtf. on my new machine and will have to start again with the old one.

First off it would be advisable to find out what the cause of these kernel panics are. What are the messages you are getting?

RAM could also be to blame so you might want to use your hardware diagnostics CD and run the extended tests.

As to your plan it should work fine. Though if the panics are caused by some system component this will not help the situation.
