I suggest buy now if you're on the edge. Prices are finally going back up after dropping since 2006.

Mmm, I'm still gonna wait it out. At least until 2 gig sticks are $30 each.

Then you missed it. Lots of places had 4GB of ram for 60-70 (After Rebate).. not now though.

I don't do rebates. I'm talking $30 flat. Just you wait. It's coming!

Is the resession affecting memory prices? Windows users can't be buying up that much memory since most Windows users are stuck at around 3 GB and most just use it for simple tasks anyways. I rarely hear of a Windows user with more than 1 GB.

You underestimate Windows users. For starters, since 99.9999% of the gaming industry is Windows-based, that's where 99.9999% of power users will be found, and you can bet they're quite aware that more memory = more performance. Heck, I was never a gamer, and every non-gaming power user I knew recommended memory upgrades for exactly the same reasons people do here. Believe me; the majority of memory purchases always have been, and always will be, going to Windows users. It's true now more than ever, with Vista requiring 2gb to move as well as XP did at 1gb.

Looks like DDR3 plans to hit the street on mass this year.

Are they converting fabs to DDR3 or just colluding again?

Are they converting fabs to DDR3 or just colluding again? We're still not into DDR3 only motherboard territory yet for this year. Even the new 4 Series motherboards (Q2 - Q3 2008) from Intel are DDR2 capable.
It depends on the manufacturer to pick between DDR2, 3, or even both.
