I have the logitech z-2300 speakers and the bass was extraordinary when it was in an open basement. Now I have moved them upstairs into a room and the sound of the bass has clearly changed. I actually checked to see is my sub was on because I couldn't hear it as well. why is this?

It is well known in audio circles that speaker placement matters a LOT. What you hear is not just the speaker but the flection of the sound from the floors and walls. The sound from the direct path and the others are added together and you hear the sum.

Two things to try (1) movethe subwoofer to that it is in a corner on the flor about a foot or so from each wall, maybe a different distance from each wall. (2) if the subwoofer has a "phase" switch, try it both ways.
