The Dana Jacobson controversy at ESPN is not going away quietly. According to the Christian Newswire, the Christian Defense Coalition is planning a noon prayer vigil outside ESPN's headquarters in Bristol, Conn. The group wants Jacobson fired. Reportedly, the ESPN TV personality is suspended. She has issued an apology but some think it is insufficient.

The Jacobson furor started as a result of roast at an Atlantic City casino for Mike Golic and Mike Greenberg, the ESPN radio-TV talk duo. Golic is a Notre Dame grad. Much the evening was filled with off-color remarks, according to the Atlantic City Press, which, as far as we can tell, represented the only mainstream media covering and reporting the event.

In Jacobson's case, she allegedly took swigs from a bottle of vodka, and used curse words in association with Notre Dame, the image of Jesus at Notre Dame known commonly as "Touchdown Jesus," and Jesus himself.

While some of what is commonly known about the incident is second-hand information, ESPN has not refuted what is widely considered to be the specific offensive behavior.

Now from what I remember of a roast, usually the idea is to make fun of people, but usually there are no cameras in the room.

The reason they want her fired is because she said something about Jesus. Nothing to do with anything else she said.

Well, considering they are *Christian* groups, for what else would they want her fired? Agree with it, disagree with it, whatever--but it is logical.

I'm seeing a pattern in how subscribers to monotheism have absolutely no sense of humor.

I'm sure if you replace "Jesus" with "Moses" or "Mohammed", or any of the major religious figureheads, you'd see a similar reaction.

Hahahaha, "Touchdown Jesus". That's hilarious.

God: I wish I could have been there.

I'd like to see anyone get away with a joke involving "Mohammed" unscathed.

Does no one watch the Family Guy or American Dad?

Touchdown Jesus isn't the joke...Notre Dame's library, I think, is right next to the football field, and has a big mosaic of Jesus that happens to be right behind the goal. Hence, Touchdown Jesus.

"Touchdown Jesus" obviously is the joke if the Christian Defence Coalition wants Jacobson fired for saying it.

You might want to reread my post very carefully looking at all the punctuation.;)

I'm seeing a pattern in how subscribers to monotheism have absolutely no sense of humor.

It's a pattern that stretches as wide as society and is not bound to any one group. Lisa Lampanelli <sp?> makes fun of deaf people and deaf advocacy groups go after her. A Golf announcer makes a poorly worded crack regarding Tiger Woods and gets suspended (even though Tiger is friends w/her and was not offend by what she said).

I saw your punctuation. It's just, I think you're wrong.

So, what did Mohammed say to the western reporter with two black eyes?

We actually should, since clearly our Creator did.

Ever see a Penguin, for instance? Flight-less bird? I find that actually very funny. Too bad for the poor little penguins, I guess, but I still find it funny.

When we were created, we were given so many kinds of capabilities and tools, and those who are so straight-laced that they are unable to laugh are truly amongst those I feel the sorriest in life for.

I'm a Missouri Synod Lutheran, and I approve this massage. Er, message.
