I'm 17 years old and I have nothing to do on a friday night. I was at a 'party' with some friends, but I had to be home at nine due to my driving restrictions...gr. Anyways, my boyfriend is with his brother and I am here on macrumors.

Someone please, be my friend and talk.

:/

I think this will be sent to the junk room or something, since it really has no topic.SO I'lL GIVE IT A TOPIC!!

Public speaking. Am I the only person on the planet that actually ENJOYED my public speaking class last year? I loved giving speeches, evaluating speeches, and having table topics (talking about a surprised topic for 3 minutes).

I allowed my 14 year old daughter to stay out later than you! :p

Just kidding...She is, but she's at church with two friends.

What did you do to have driving restrictions? Can't you ride with someone else?

It's the law. After you get your license, you can only drive between 5am-9pm alone. My parents make me enforce that rule because my mom drives an '03 Benz, and she knows that nicer cars get pulled for lamer excuses. She just doesn't want me to have to start over. The restrictions end in march some time....

If i'm out with my boyfriend (who has no curfew anymore) I can usually be out until 1am (on the weekends, and when we're at his dad's house). But tonight was just one of those nights :(

Watch Donnie Darko. It's an awesome movie and an awesome way to spend a Friday night.

Donnie: Why do you wear that stupid bunny suit?
Frank: Why are you wearing that stupid man suit?

And tell your boyfriend Donnie keeps better company.

I don't own it.
I could download it, though.
I might just do that!!

That sucks. Junior operators here are allowed to drive between 5am and 12am. 9pm is crap.

i think it should at least be 10. i guess they just want the youngins off the roads and staying out of trouble.

although if you're leaving work, then you are permitted to drive later. i always take my clock-out print-out so in case i get pulled i can show them the time i clocked out. you can really get let off easy if they're just doing a license check but if you get a speeding ticket or doing some trouble-making stuff after your 9pm... you're screwed

Yeah, the work thing is pretty much the same here.

I still can't believe that the curfew is 9. That's ridiculous. At least you have less than a year until the restrictions are gone for you.

Hi there! I'm 21 years old and alone on a Friday night, in my little somewhat messy apartment. I could have gone and seen Cloverfield with some friends, but I said no, because I think the movie will suck. I, instead, was set on doing the massive amount of studying I need to do to catch up (see my thread complaining about a silly mock grant proposal), but then I procrastinated instead, and now I am biding my time, promising myself that I will wake up early tomorrow so that I can study enough to hang out with friends Saturday night.

I just watched a movie called "Leon" about a hitman.

If I remember correctly you had good taste in movies, and if you are bored again I guess I could hold a "At The Drive-In" movie night on my server. :)

At least you have less than a year until the restrictions are gone for you.Back when I had my restricted the curfew was "sundown", then again, one could obtain a restricted license at 15. Wow, that just made me realize I am kinda old, lol.

Speaking of licenses, here's a riddle for you...

I have a legitimate driver's license, but I don't know how to drive (at least, I don't really think I do).

I have a legitimate driver's license, but I don't know how to drive (at least, I don't really think I do).

Here's another one, I have had 3 valid US drivers licenses (in 3 different states) and have never once taken a driving test in this country.

I returned home a little while ago from my symphony rehearsal (the big show is tomorrow night!) so I am just chilling for another hour or so on Teh Interweb™. After a long day at work (a long week actually, since it's my first week back in over a month) and a long rehearsal tonight, I'm going to be hitting the sack pretty soon. No partying for me tonight! :D

Ah, the good old International Driver's License... I picked one of those up here before one of my trips to Europe several years ago - it was quite easy to acquire (no test whatsoever) and I, too, had never driven in Europe before. Yet, there I was, with one also! :D

I don't know if you can do it right over iChat with that share a file thing, but a few of us could all go in a chatroom or video chat with a movie playing in the browser that I could host on my server.

Well watching movies is a good start. Wait no, scratch that. Pick up a copy of anything by Philip K. Dick and then watch the crappy movie it inspired.

The Regina Symphony Orchestra - the longest continually performing orchestra in all of Canada and one of the top ones in the country! We are very fortunate to have the calibre of musicians which we do here. Next year is our 100th year, so we're going to be playing some massive works which I am very much looking forward to.

I play clarinet. :) The show was exhausting but great - some demanding pieces on the program tonight. I really enjoy playing though, so it's all good. It's a nice contrast to my day job (Electronics Engineer/Project Manager for an ISP) as it exercises the other side of my brain. ;) That coupled with acting, soccer, backpacking and some day trading makes for a very diverse and thus exciting life I must say! I'm a very busy guy, but no complaints - gotta get as much out of life as possible.

Of course! I am always jealous of people who can play music. I'd love to learn piano, and re-pick up guitar. The only thing is no one in my family can play anything and we don't have a piano so I couldn't really play.

I also did acting in high school and it was really demanding plus track, and work, and everything else so I know what you mean about being busy! Glad to hear another person trying to get the most out of life.

Sounds good dude. I am also a clarinet player (although admittedly I haven't played in a while). I enjoy playing jazz rather than more classical/orchestral pieces.

Absolutely, as I said, I really enjoy it and always like to be busy and challenged - but in a good way! ;) :D

I've played some jazz as well, but unfortunately there isn't as much opportunity (at least here) to do so when it comes to clarinet. Last night was a good example of the exception though, as we performed West Side Story and Rhapsody in Blue for some variety - a nice departure from the norm. Next concert though it's back to the usual!

I bet you could pick up the tenor sax without too much hassle if you wanted to play some more jazz. The fingerings for both registers on the sax are the same as for the upper register on clarinet, so it doesn't get confusing. With both instruments being Bb instruments you can use the same music without having to transpose as well. When I was younger I played sax in a "big band" style group for a while. We played a few free gigs in local jazz clubs and it was always a brilliant night out. Do some playing and have some beers :)

Of course, if you want to take this route, you will have the problem of having to get hold of a saxophone :)

Cool, good to know. Who knows, someday when I have some more time perhaps I'll try picking one up. :)

GOOD CHOICE.

My friend wanted to go see that, and I was like, meh, sure, so me, him, and his girlfriend/my best friend all went and saw it. He seemed to like it, but me and her were texting each other back and forth going this movies ********** retarded.
