This guide will jailbreak your iPod 1.1.3 firmware, and patch it so it does not think it is an iPhone.
Make sure you are on 1.1.1 or 1.1.2 ( 1.1.2 has seen more success) and jailbroken with Installer.app installed.
Step 1. Download the iBrickr Special edition Windows (http://devices.natetrue.com/iphone/ibrickr-jb113.zip) Mac (http://devices.natetrue.com/iphone/jb113.dmg)
Step 2. Extract the zip to your desktop, run iBrickr.
Step 3. Follow the instructions, when asked, download the firmware from Apple's website.
Step 4. This should take at least a few minutes to finish, and then upload to iPod, so if it goes really fast it didn't work. Try again.
Step 5. You should then download the "1.1.3 soft update" from Installer in the System category. If it is not there, refresh your sources.
Step 6. You should boot into 1.1.3 iPhone firmware. Don't worry.
Step 7. Gain access to your iPod using Touch Explorer ( Link (http://filebeam.com/051e07f96c6caaf6926f114dcf85cc21) ) or use WinSCP, or CuteFTP. Basically, gain access to your iPod.
Step 8. Open Touch Explorer, or whatever else you are using, navigate to /System/Library/CoreServices/SpringBoard.app and download the file titled "Springboard" It will be just a blank icon with no extension. Right click on it, the choice with the (W) will allow you to select your Desktop(for touch explorer).
Rename this SpringBoard file to SpringBoardorig
Step 9. Download the folder "sdelta3orig" to your Desktop and unzip it there. Drag the SpringBoardorig file from previous step into this folder as well. Download (http://filebeam.com/43be0e06824dca191483231c73bdeaef)
Step 10. Open the sdelta3orig folder right click on the file cygwin1.dll and select Open With. Find command prompt, it should be in /Windows/system32 it will be called "cmd.exe". (If you are familiar with command prompt, just cd into the sdelta3orig folder)
Step 11. Command Prompt should open into the sdelta3 folder. Type the following command below.
sdelta3 SpringBoardorig SpringBoard_patch.sd3 > SpringBoard
Step 12. This will patch your SpringBoard file, once it's done, send the new Springboard file back to the iPod in the /System/Library/CoreServices/SpringBoard.app and overwrite the file there.
Step 13. Reboot iPod.
If you have problems, make sure the SpringBoard file you placed in /System/Library/CoreServices/SpringBoard.app is set to permissions 755. This will fix the problem of being stuck at the Apple logo.

Will this erase any third party apps and/or music I already have on my ipod? Also, does Summerboard and Customize work with 1.1.3?
Does this jailbreak allow moving icons and multiple home screens that 1.1.3 update has?

Hello,
I'm trying on ipt 1.1.2 and I'm stuck on step 4. It tooks way too little time to deccrypt the image and nothing to upload the firmware to the ipod. I tried many times with the same result. Is there anything I should check ?
I have a 129MB file in the ibrickr directory (probably the decrypted dmg file)

I'm waiting for an official one-click method before I try and jailbreak my iPod touch. Too many problems I've heard.

I'm going to try this method and see how things go. I'll let everyone one know if I encounter any problems. The one thing I'm not so excited about is the busted Maps app that doesn't have the Locate Me function. That has something to do with the jailbreak method.
I better be able to downgrade back to 1.1.1 or 1.1.2 afterwards. I wouldn't mind trying other jailbreak methods later.

This process works great. If you can follow instructions, and have a little patience.
Just as easy on a Mac,- download the mac version of iBrickr (* actual file name for Mac is 'jb113.dmg', but performs the same task for our purposes *) from cre.ations.net, and follow the directions. You'll need the s3delta file found in the data directory of jb113, after it does it's thing.
The only thing I will add is that at step 5 (installing 'soft update 1.1.3), you will want to be patient. When you think you've waited long enough for your iPod Touch to reboot, give it another 10 minutes. If it still hasn't rebooted, wait some more. It does eventually reboot.
Other than that just, use Installer to install Community Sources, BSD Subsystem and OpenSSH. Root password was reset to the default 'alpine' if you had previously changed yours.
After completing the rest of the steps- No other hacks, modifying .plist files, etc needed. Install a new app (anything really), just to force our 'new and improved' Springboard to relaunch and you'll be good to go. New Apps, 'Wiggly' Icons, and all.

when you get to the decrypting firmware stage in iBrickr, you have to use the 1.1.3 iPhone firmware. the ipod firmware decryption key is still hidden, so make sure to use the iPhone firmware. Just download it from Apples site when it asks you.
also, the springboard patch enables all iPhone apps, wiggling icons, webclips, new Google maps working perfectly with locate me etc.
almost all 3rd party apps work. you have to manually install customize as of right now, and smbprefs only changes icons, no backgrounds yet. but NES and gpSphone still work, along with many other games and apps.
heres a screenshot from my iPod...i wrote this method after i finished with mine because i figured others would want to have a 1.1.3 jailbroken iPod.

My bad. It's not called 'iBricker' but the file 'jb113.dmg' that is available on the same site contains everything you need to do the same thing iBricker does, albeit without the pretty GUI that you have in windows.
Pretty much just have to double click 'Run_This' and follow along with the rest of the instructions. But if that sounds like too much for you, then just sit back and wait for your 'one-click' solution.

That's not called iBrickr. If you notice, it's called "1.1.3 Package Installer". So, no, I'm not a dick, I'm just telling you the truth.

I'm not a noob, and I did download it but, it's still not iBrickr.
Looks like some files and none of them say iBrickr and it looks nothing like iBrickr that you see on Windows. Also, stop hating on the Macs... why are you on a Mac website if you don't like them?

I downloaded the firmware from apple using ibrick but I had no luck. Maybe because I moved the application out of the / using iboss ?

AriX just released the newest version of iJailBreak, which is version 0.4.
It can be used to both have a Jailbroken 1.1.3 firmware and install the newest iPhone apps.
I downloaded it and I might try it soon. Sounds really great. I used iJailBreak to Jailbreak my 1.1.1 iPhone before and it's flawless. I think version 0.4 will be as good.
Try it, and tell if it works great !

Okay, fine then but, nowhere does it say iBrickr. I didn't run the command because I'm not ready to jailbreak 1.1.3. I never said that you couldn't do it on a Mac, I was simply stating that there wasn't an "iBrickr" for the Mac. I was assuming you meant a GUI version. Sorry.

I think I'm going to stick with my jailbroken 1.1.2 until summerboard is fully supported in 1.1.3. I like my theme! And the only things I really want from 1.1.3 are the moveable icons (which is possible with customize and spacers) and the ability to stick webapps on the home screen.

This looks a lot more promising. I'm actually very tempted to go with it. I also love the fact that it installs the $20 update as well.

If you're referring to the 300MB file then this can be removed with '1.1.3 Soft Upg. Cleaner' under Recent Packages in Installer.
