iPod: unused used space?

My iPod was showing that 561 MB of "other" space in iTunes, and there was nothing else stored on it, no files or anything. So, I did a restore ...and it's still there. I'd really like this space. Any solutions? Should I whip out Disk Utility and do a clean erase? Thanks!

If it's a 5th gen, you probably have album artwork - that can be some of the 'other'.
