I want some opinions on what the best place would be to buy a touch. If I buy from apple, I will end up playing about $430 because of taxes... I was considering Amazon, but I have some issues with them I don't want to get into right now.

So, besides Amazon and Apple, what is the best place to buy?

I looked at MacMall, and they have the 16gb for $358.98, the same as Amazon. They charge $9.99 for shipping, but it says there is a Mail-in-rebate for 9.99 on the shipping costs. has anyone done this? I also see they have a 1.1.3 updated touch for $389.94. If you think about it, that's not worth it. (unless my math is wrong there).

But, I've heard some bad things about MacMall and don't want to have a bad experience.

are there any opinions?

thanks.

1. Bestbuy is selling for $380 and i would have to pay taxes on top of that.

I used to recommend Mac Mall, because I have had a few successful purchases there for good prices, but based on the trouble that a number of other people have reported, I no longer recommend them.

B&H has them for the same price as amazon: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/520652-REG/Apple_MA627LL_A_iPod_touch_16GB_Wi_Fi.html

Amazon has free shipping :-)

I know, I just order a touch from them last week, arriving tomorrow. No shipping, no tax. Even paying $20 for the new apps, I'm still under what everyone else charges.

Yeah, I have Amazon Prime, so I overnighted my iPT for $3 :-)

B&H is very reputable, just don't try to shop during any Jewish holiday. Giant photo store in NYC.

I bought mine at Costco for ~$370. Not available at costco.com, though. 90 day return policy like no other. Like I'm going to return this. :D

Everybody should have dropped their price $20 to cover the apps as of a week ago. (2 weeks?)

Go ahead and pay some sales tax, maybe they'll fix a road for you to drive on.

I bought a 16g IPT at Best Buy about a week and a half ago for 360 before taxes.

I did have to pay for the upgrade, but the math worked for me.

If you know someone who has access to a military base and can shop at the base exchange that is your best option. No taxes.

I think the idea is that you have to join the military before you reap the benefits.

Alright, i went over to the Marines recruitment center around the corner, and should be shipping of to basic training in mid February. I hope it doesn't take too long because I don't think they would let me use a Touch during training. maybe I should have asked Sgt. Dicks that.

NOPE. Just know someone who has access. You can even go in with them as long as they are the one paying for it.
Or, you can join and do it yourself after basic training.
