So i saw this site talking about how their beta is getting launched tonight, for XP and Vista.

Its a P2P network for free and legal music, which plans to pay the labels using ads....they say they've got 25 Million songs...which is a ton! I haven't found any info about DRM, but its coming to Mac OS X on March 18th..so its possible iPod will be able to support it!

Or maybe there won't be DRM on it! Clearly the labels are wiling to sell DRMless music, and if we're getting it for free, there would be no reason to steal it. And their ads would still pay them.(Yea I wish!)

Any one with Vista/XP wanna try this service out tonight when it launches?

The more I look at it, the more I feel we won't be able to use it how we feel...locked up super tight with DRM!

Can ads really pay all the bills?

Assuming the record companies only want 10 cents per song (and we know they actually want a lot more than this) downloaded, even a single download of each song currently listed (25 million) would exceed $2.5 million. Add operating costs, legal, etc, and things can really start to get expensive.

Suppose the site proves very successful (and why wouldn't it if it's offering free music), would ad revenue still be able to support that many downloads?

Just a curious question on my part; I really would like to see the site succeed (if it's all legit and the music selection is good).
