MacBook Pro external Hard Drive Issues

I recently installed an external Lacie Big Disk Quadra (3 TB 4 drive Raid 5) box for a client. I connected it via FireWire to his Mac Pro just fine. It will not however connect to his MacBook Pro via FireWire or USB. Any suggestions?

can you give us more information about the computers?
OS versions, software updates, any raid software required by the array?

i would first make sure all software is 100% up to date (again: os, software updates, array software)

also, does the drive show up in disk utility and simply not mount?

Both are fully updated, OS 10.5.1. It requires no RAID software the external disk takes care of that. The computer just sees it as one large drive. I am not sure if it mounts or not, I will have to check. I am sorta new to Macs and did not know where to go next. Thanks!
