Nano volume limit lock code?

A friend of mine set a volume limit on their iPod nano, and now they are trying to connect it to a stereo and it's not loud enough. They say they never put in a code, but that in order to unlock it it keeps asking for a code. They tried 0000, and everything else they could think of that made sense.

Any ideas besides restore, or is that the only option?

jailbreak and hack.
but you've got to have some terminal skills. i personally dont see why they would put that on there.

You can jailbreak a nano?

This is for my boss' wife's nano, I don't want to do anything too complicated or rash. Is the only other way a restore?
