If Apple and IBM had signed a deal to allow IBM to make Mac Clones, I wonder how easy it would have been for Jobs to kill that contract like he did the other ones with Motorola and such.

Easy enough since Apple owns the rights to "Macintosh" and any iteration of it and not IBM.

Yes, but it is one thing to tell a company like Radius, APS Technologies, and DayStar Digital to take a long walk off a short pier than it is a company like IBM. Especially when you depended on IBM's technology to make your CPU.

Mind you, the IBM Mac Clone could have been as much a failure as the others, and IBM might have been happy to kill it. But if it had become a more serious player...

This scenario could have forced a switch to x86 chips sooner. If you twist it that way you might expect Apple to have a larger market share today than it currently has.
