Lets see if I can explain this simply..

I've gone to the switch of my complex... plugged a cable in, and found a working output, plugged in my room to that jack...

so I go back to my apartment, plug in my cable... I can now get a DCHP address.. but it still won't connect to the internet.

My first thought would be a cable problem... but if I am assigned a DCHP address, my cable is fine correct?

I just can't get to the internet... whenever I go to Google it says "connecting" ... so it thinks it's working, but it's not.

so it has to be software right? I used Open DNS, but didn't help.

any tips?
thanks!
