is there a way that I can have my computer to stay on rather than going into sleep mode?

Be careful though, this decreases the ease at which the main body of the laptop can cool down and it is possible that the computer will overheat.

I thought this would be a good idea for next to my HD monitor before 30 minutes the temperature had risen to a good 20˙C above anything I had seen in iStat Pro before! (85˙C + for a 12" powerbook isn't good news!)

But good luck with whatever your trying to achieve!
