External Hd stopped working

Hey guys
My External HD has stopped working, it turns on its light but after a few seconds turns off, the drive can still be heard. its still on, but leopard doesnt see it anymore.
It used to, i was using it for time machine. i think someone shut it off while it was doing a backup and thats when i think it started doing this.

As i said leopard doesnt see it.

What brand is it?

Is it still under warranty?

Is the drive easy to open? You may want to try to remove the drive and put it in an external enclosure. The device's interface/power supply may have died, but the hard drive may be fine.

its definitely over its warranty, i bought the drive as oem and the enclosure is from vantec.
OS X doesn't even recognize it anymore.

Does the drive spin up? I'd try another enclosure.
