View Full Version : iTunes inconsistent pricing...

I just noticed while showing iTMS to a friend that not all the albums are the same price...I thought iTunes supposedly had the same price for all songs(99¢) and albums ($9.99). Is the inconsistent pricing just a windows thing or have they changed the pricing on the mac also?

I noticed this too until I looked further, the albums that would normally be on two cds in stores are more. But you are right about the price, but it should say 99 cents a song and 9.99 for a cd. Two cd albums are more.

Also, audio books are priced differently. I've seen them from $9.99 to $15.99.

There *are* single albums that are priced more... not too many, though.
The album by Garrison Starr (http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewAlbum?playlistId=627010) is $12.87 (13 tracks).

Apple is strict about the 99 cents per song. The only thing is that any tracks that are over 7 minutes long have to be bought with the album.
Other than that, Apple was unable to secure consistent pricing with albums, although overall it seems reasonable compared to $15-$18 normal prices of physical CDs.

Apple has never guaranteed a specific price for albums. Most though are 9.99. the number of songs on each album varies too much. one album may have 7 songs and another may have 20. I don't see how anyone would expect all albums to be 9.99.
If you want a great deal, go to Herbie Hancock's celebrity playlist. Once there, you can buy a 27 minute Miles Davis SONG for 99 cents
